Welcome to the world of the beautiful and intoxicatingly fragrant Hawaiian Island flowers–the Hawaiian Plumerias.

If you have had the opportunity to travel to the Hawaiian Islands as I have, then there is a good chance you were welcomed upon your arrival with one of the traditional “Hawaiian Leis”.

The Hawaiian plumeria lei is a necklace made with the fresh Hawaiian flowers, usually the sweet scented white “Singapore” plumeria flowers. The plumeria fragrance is an ever fresh sweet perfume. Though these Hawaiian tropical flowers also known as plumeria“frangipani” or “melia“ to the native Hawaiians are tropical flowers from Hawaii; but they are not native to Hawaii. Plumerias were first brought to Hawaii in 1860.

The Hawaiian plumeria flower is very popular; and many Hawaiians grow plumerias as tropical flowering trees, or because of limited space plant these exotic house plants in growing pots on their lanai or as a part of their plant gardens. That is why growing hawaiian dwarf plumeria trees are gaining in popularity.

The Hawaiian Plumeria and the Hawaiian Hibiscus, the State Flower, are their two most recognizable flowers. Hawaiian Plumerias are big business for the State of Hawaii. Continuous research is being conducted on plumeria culture through the University of Hawaii.

Ever since I was welcomed with my first “Hawaiian lei”, I fell in love with the Hawaiian plumerias.

I wondered to myself living in Chicago if I could ever learn “HOW TO GROW HAWAIIAN PLUMERIAS NORTHERN CLIMATE?” AND THE ANSWER IS ‘YES’.

After six years of much learning, I recently finished this Plumeria 101 “How to Do” ebook where I provide an easy step-by-step guide for all those who want to grow Hawaiian Plumerias in Northern Climates.
